2021 Ducati Monster – Is the new monster still a monster?

2021 Ducati Monster

At first glance, the 2021 Ducati Monster (MSRP: $11,895) looks like a gamble. At a press conference in the United States, Ducati’s marketers tried to develop style clues, linking the original Miguel Galluzzi icon with the 2021Ducati monster, and pointed out the circular front of the new bicycle. The headlights and bison-shaped fuel tank are similar to the M900. Not round, right? Moreover, if you close one eye and blink, the water tank will only look like the original water tank. What exactly is Ducati? Is the new monster still a monster?

Is that timeless design? We leave it in your local waters for discussion. This is definitely more starting point than previous generations. As the saying goes, it’s a bit risky and cruel. In addition, “monsters” are always recognized. Remember, the name “Monster” comes from the assembly of parts, not their personality. We are talking about the monster of Frankenstein, not Godzilla.

The first thing that attracts you is not the new style, but the miniature size. That thing is very small. The large 90-degree V twins are essentially not as compact as parallel twins with the same power. Therefore, the compact packaging and minimalist body make the engine more attractive than ever. With a seat height of 32.3 inches, thinner seats and a narrow 3.7-gallon fuel tank, ordinary drivers have no problem walking on flat ground. In addition to the lowering kit that can reduce the headroom to 30.5 inches, tall seats are also provided.

Unfortunately, in the Euro 5 version, the monster is very sullen like my field cultivator, and the exhaust sound is too loud. I admit, this is also Italian, but not Desmo’s twins. This is the time we live. The air box emits a compensation sound exceeding 5000 rpm.

As technology advances, many products in the Ducati product line have become more focused, more powerful or more expensive, so the latest version is undoubtedly more practical: more than ever. During the year, the change of the scene means coincidence, which has certain similarities with the monster playing Ducati. When the world opened up to a new reality again, a new monster appeared in front of him. The aluminium frame and unround headlights illuminate a new era, and you can see what it is: the monster of that era.

Monster electronic driver assistance system includes cornering ABS, traction control, wheel control, start control and three driving modes (sports, tour, city). The settings can be changed in the preset driving mode. Demonstrated a smoother throttle response and more aggressive wheel steering and TC settings when they go unnoticed in the background. The typical function of Ducati UX is to navigate through the menu with the switch on the left, and the 4.3-inch TFT screen is very intuitive.

Engine specification

The new roller bearing and the new indexer are used for more reliable engagement with the shift drum, which also prevents the drum locking mechanism from slipping off the gear. The fifth and sixth gears have fewer meshing teeth (six to four) to reduce the possibility of this happening. The new lighter clutch unit has a longer service life than the previous generation, and uses a three-spring design instead of a six-spring design, which can reduce the lever pressure by 20%.

Ducati modified the Testastretta gearbox to make it easier to shift to neutral and reduced the possibility of false neutrals between fifth and sixth gears, which is the same as other Testastretta 937cc. Although there is a small gap on the gearbox.

Like other mid-range Ducatis, 2021 Ducati Monster uses a 320mm front disc, a radially mounted Brembo M4.32 calliper and a radially mounted master cylinder. The setting is solid, with a good feel and a progressive bite, although this is not the last word. Performance (after all, these are not Stylema callipers)

The design has changed, but the 2021 Ducati Monster is philosophically more authentic than ever. This is an affordable and easy-to-use bike that Ducatiti and budding connoisseurs love. With the advancement of technology, many products in the Ducati product line have become more concentrated, powerful or expensive. The 2021 Ducati Monster would never let you down in every rev. Therefore, the latest version is undoubtedly more targeted and more needed than ever before.
